Interesting post from a Xopenex user on YC:

use of xopenex rljacobson33

I had been using albuterol sparingly along with atrovent for airway expansion. I used albuterol sparingly because I found over the 20 or so years that continual use of proventil caused me to lose about 50L/min in peak flow base line rate. This deficit had to be made up by the 100 to 110L/min that I gained from albuterol. Problem is especially acute in the early morning when the effect runs out. I was then worse off. I found that this base line loss was not so pronounced if I used proventil sparingly and suffered my asthma.
When I ran across xopenex I learned of the recemic pair of R and S albuterol.
I had told my doctor about my concerns about albuterol before I learned of xopenex. He humored me and gave me a precription for xopenex before I could get it at the drug store.
I finally got it on May 23.
I got the air compressor for nebulizing that day.

My life is better than it has been in a long time.

Anyone who is taking albuterol as a preventive should try xopenex for her/him self.

I continue to have albuterol MDI on my person at all times and scattered about for emergency.
I have an inverter to run the compressor in my car.
I obviously want the xopenex MDI.
This company has done me a great service.
I look forward to the RR formoterol.

I hope he posts about his experiences on the alt.support.asthma Usenet group.

Peter
