Using Drive Image 4.0, I restored the entire hard drive, all three partitions, with XP Home SP1, without a hitch. I'd messed with the booting sequence and other things. I knew there was a high probability that I would screw things up beyond repair, so I was counting on the image backup.

Reading what Langa reports about image reliability is sobering, and something I've always wondered about. I guess simply verifying images in some cases is not sufficient image testing.

Originally I was unhappy with my purchase of DI 4.0, because new features followed in an upgrade soon after a bought it. Powerquest would not upgrade me except at the regular upgrade price. Now that these reports of problems with the latest DI are surfacing, I'm quite satisfied with my old version.

I would think one could pick up a copy of DI 5.0 pretty cheap. That's the one Langa likes. I tried BootItNG a few months ago, but it was very slow making images compared to Drive Image.
