I just sent for this Free Cookbook even though I know it probably contains some recipes that won't fit.

I'd be surprised if you find five percent of the recipes suitable. They will be loaded with carbs, particularly wheat. I've seen the ads for this often on TV and wanted to throw the proverbial shoe at the TV. The ad touts their lemon meringue pie recipe, which is a dead giveaway.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (Business Wire) Victor Results Advertising, a full service advertising agency specializing in fusing brand and direct marketing to measurably improve results, won the Gold Award for Business-to-Consumer Marketing at the annual competition hosted by the Nashville Chapter of the American Marketing Association (NAMA). Victor Results’ direct-to-patient integrated campaign included television, print and web media to generate qualified prospects. The program reduced the cost-per-lead by half and doubled the number of qualified leads.

The Achievement In Marketing Awards (AIM) honors those campaigns that have made a significant impact on results. The competition was entered by dozens of the top agencies in Nashville. Paula Cometto Milam, President, adds, “We are extremely honored to accept this award on behalf of our client, AmMed Direct. At Victor Results, our team strives for creative excellence that achieves measurably improved results and an effective cost-per-lead. We are dedicated to providing creative and strategic marketing solutions, for improved results to help our clients’ companies grow.”

Victor Results’ challenge was to develop an effective marketing program that delivered improved results for our client in a competitive environment, where the top companies in the industry had huge marketing budgets and strong positions. In addition, we needed to reach the over-marketed-to senior segment to motivate them to respond. The campaign consisted of targeted television advertising, a Better Care Kit™ with a meal planning guide poster, along with a diabetic desserts cookbook. This campaign fulfilled a primal need for delicious, diabetic-friendly food. All of these elements were produced in the most cost-effective way to meet the client’s tight budget parameters.

Victor Results Advertising, headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn., is renowned for delivering measurably improved advertising results by fusing the art of the brand and the science of direct response to heighten awareness and increase response for our clients’ marketing campaigns. Call 615.376.3044 or visit www.VictorResults.com for more information or to see our portfolio of proven case histories.

EDIT: Decided to google to see if I could find any recipes from the book. (As you can see, this TV ad is really stuck in my craw. <g>) Couldn't find any recipes but one of the books had two reviews on Amazon--as expected. Fortunately these two individuals knew enough not to follow the advice of the cookbooks.

1.0 out of 5 stars Brown & White Sugar ???? , April 4, 2008

This is a small cheap book. Most recipes are high in CARBS and lack grams of sugar per serving. Some recipes require too many ingredients.....
Nice Pictures and easy layout.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad dessert book for diabetes, November 6, 2008
By AthenaRose "Staci" - See all my reviews
I would not recommend this book especially to a person who just found out they have diabetes. Most of the recipes are high in carbs. Most of the recipes call for all-purpose flour and sugar/brown sugar. Another thing it calls for alot of ingred. Even though I got this free by AMMed Direct. It is worthless to me & to the beginner. I think there are better books out there!!

Also from Amazon, I came upon this diet book in my cyber-travels today. It advocates controlling hunger by drinking extra light olive oil before meals, a trick that has been posted here. Interestingly, it specifies extra light olive oil, which is designed to have no flavor. I read up on ELOO and found the label has no standards and often contains other kinds of oil, an iffy proposition.
