Thank You Real America! Elah Has Crashed! Get it: Crash-ed? Get it…? LIBERTAS BLOG — Dirty Harry @ 7:49 am
After a less than stellar debut last weekend Paul Haggis's defamation of our troops disguised as a prententious, dull, anti-war tract is now officially a flop:
"In the Valley of Elah (Warner Independent) expanded with less success. The Iraq War-themed drama managed only $270,000 Friday at its 317 locations for a PTA [per theatre average] of only $850. Elah appears to be headed for just under $900,000 for the weekend for a 3-day PTA of just $2,811.
In comparison, Into The Wild's PTA was $46,000, The Assassination of Jesse James, $26,000, and The Jane Austen Book Club, $5,500.
Elah had been projected to do upwards of $2.5 million by people who don't live in the real world and think there's an audience for portraying our best, brightest, and most heroic as sadistic monsters.
I have cut open Elah and am now victory-dancing in her putrid guts. Please join me and hope this is just the beginning of a lovely trend for similarly-themed, multi-million dollar propaganda films for al-Queda.
