I apologize for any prejudicial statements you may have heard

No worries.

it's still not exactly the same as a major religious sect routinely instructing its members to hate infidels

I agree. I was just pointing out that such degrading sermons on members of other religions also happen elsewhere, before I got called liar or worse by certain members of our happy little SI community who are oh so sure such things could never happen in their world.

lots of people who have an ethnic identity are unhappy to see their children marry out of it

I understand. Still, in such small communities (as Jewish communities were in some places I have lived in), kids find it very difficult to find a mate from among the few eligible Jews, and turn elsewhere.

I know of quite a few mixed marriages that have worked well, though. I went to school with maybe 6-7 Jewish girls, one of whom is now dating a non-Jew in Geneva, to the chagrin of her family. Another is in the US, about to be married to a non-Jew and her family has not yet called him by name, nor do they intend to attend the marriage ceremony.

A couple of other non-Jew girlfriends married Jewish guys (after quite explosive months, if not years). One is now married to a Cohen, whose family allowed the marriage only after he attempted suicide :-)

because the woman's family would kill her

None of the resistance I have seen was anywhere that strong. And most of it came from the Jewish family, especially if the surname was Cohen or Levi...
