The vouchers wouldn't be for "about" the same amount of a public school education, they would be for the same amount...and the "public" schools would also be funded by vouchers...all schools would, ideally.
But it may not be politically acceptable to extend the vouchers to expensive schools, as some view it as a subsidy rather than a return of monies paid (and in some instances, I suppose that may be true).
The abuses you cite have occurred in the present system, they may continue, they may increase, or they may lessen given a voucher system...I don't know what will happen.
My children have already finished their formal education, so I don't have a financial interest in the voucher system, but we all have a societal interest, IMHO, because a better school system will result in a better society.
FWIW, I went to public school, and my kids attended both private and public schools. |
