Re Trichet - the German press accepts him as a professional and the fact he's French, has been digested a long time ago. The mortgage of his hanky panky in the courts has also been lifted, so what's the big deal... I'd say the big deal these days (ie last 24 hours) is Jacques Chirac dit L'elephant in the european china store: ordering (cant find a more appropriate word) the subsidy discussions in Luxemburg to stop.
