Elitists seem to believe that money not taxed is money that government gives to people.

"never heard anyone go as far as you suggest."

It is the only explanation that fits the claim that government funds most medical research. R&D are tax deductible and thus elitists claim it is government funding.

I have seen leftwingers make the claim that granting tax deductions amounts to government funding. It has been in cases like the argument that John keeps trying to repeat in hopes that people will believe it if he posts it often enough.

In a free society the socialist has to implement dependency in stages. It takes time for people to forget about personal responsibility and much more time to forget about the rewards for hard work and excellence.

IMHO freedom is not an entirely natural state for humanity. It is one that seems to require egalitarian people act in a and reminding their fellow humans of the rewards for remaining free and to remind them of the costs of losing it.

I have observed that people who are not taught personal responsibility seem to buy into the idea of collective responsibility.
