Warning: NT SP4 / Partition Magic dos mode incompatibility

forum.powerquest.com:80/mb/user/message.html?message=11237

"Since the release of Service Pack 4 for Windows NT, we have seen numerous instances where any of our products that run in DOS-mode report errors 1511 and 1627. SP4 makes numerous changes to the NTFS file system which weren't anticipated until the release of NT 5.0. The descriptions of the errors are reflective of the changes being made. Error 1511 is "Bad restart record format", while error 1627 is "Upcase table incorrect". Our programs anticipate that this information will conform to NT 4.0 specifications. When SP4 is applied, the restart record format and upcase table are changed, which then forces our programs to generate an error. Any of our programs that run in MS-DOS mode will report this error. In the case of PartitionMagic 4.0, running the program under NT will take care of the error. In the meantime, we are working towards a solution for the issue and hope to have a fix available for it soon. Once it becomes available, a follow-up posting to this message will be made. Reason number next I won't sweat not having SP4 on yet. :)
