MALIBU, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 28, 2001--JAKKS Pacific Inc. (Nasdaq:JAKK) today announced that it has signed a master toy licensing agreement with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising (Fox L&M) for the studio's 2002 animated epic ``Ice Age.''

Capitalizing on the film's unforgettable lead characters and wide family appeal, JAKKS Pacific's Flying Colors® division will create a full line of toys and merchandise for the digitally animated feature.

Included in the Flying Colors line will be plush toys, action figures and playsets, activity kits, and lunch boxes. ``We're thrilled to have leading entertainment toy licensee JAKKS Pacific on board for `Ice Age,''' said Peter Byrne, Executive Vice President of Fox Licensing & Merchandising. ``We have every confidence that this film and its merchandise will be a huge family hit.''

``We are honored to be partnering with Fox L&M as the Master Toy Licensee for `Ice Age,''' said Jennifer Richmond, Vice President Licensing, JAKKS Pacific. ``The incredible animation and all-star cast are sure to help position it as one of the great family films of 2002. Our Flying Colors toy line will aim to bring the warm, funny characters to life for children everywhere.''

Set against the onslaught of the Ice Age -- and a world filled with wonder and danger -- ``Ice Age'' is a must-see, digitally animated feature film for the entire family. The story revolves around three unforgettable characters: an acerbic woolly mammoth named Manfred (voiced by Ray Romano), an unsocialized giant sloth named Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo), and a scheming saber-toothed tiger named Diego (voiced by Denis Leary).

Together, this group of dysfunctional characters takes an unexpected passenger on the biggest commute of all time! Along the way, they become unlikely allies on a perilous quest to return the passenger to its family. A new world of adventure is waiting for them on the coolest road trip ever!

Slated for release in the spring of 2002, ``Ice Age'' is a collaborative effort of Academy Award-winning director Chris Wedge, the cutting edge animators at Blue Sky Studios, and Twentieth Century Fox. This hilarious and engaging animated feature is sure to appeal to parents and children alike as it takes consumers on an adventure through our ancient past.

Twentieth Century Fox anticipates that ``Ice Age'' will receive multimillion-dollar, event-level marketing and media support including a major broadcast, print and outdoor advertising blitz targeting kids, teens and adults. The film will also be promoted through a multi-tiered in-theater campaign, featuring trailers, posters, standees and banners; innovative publicity efforts, including stunts and a colossal premiere; and an interactive online campaign, allowing audiences around the globe to experience the world of ``Ice Age.''
