Re-using plastic bottles is unhealthy. I remember reading something to the effect that plastic causes bacteria to form in the bottles.


That's a bit silly and an urban legend - now if you don't wash the bottle of course you'll get saliva in it and bacteria - but when cleaned "properly", it's like everything else we store food inside. We put them in the dishwasher and they work fine - glad storage bags, plastic tupperware and take out boxes are all made from plastics - totally harmless - probably misinformation from the bottled water industry. :-)

Maybe the solution is going back to glass bottles.

They break and cut you - plastic is far safer, besides the plastic bottles have screw caps and fit nicely in my trucks cup holders.

As far as tap water, many larger cities have aging aqueducts systems. The tap water we are drinking may not be all that safe.


Then get it tested and find out.
