How can we account for my parents skyrocketing property taxes of the last 12 years??

The property tax increases are certainly out of line with any growth in wages and income of anyone not lucky enough to be employed in the public sector?

In other words as property taxes have doubled and nearly tripled in 12 years the prevailing wages in the private economy in that time frame have barely budged.
