Softechie:

Looking at a weekly chart of Nadaq I would expect the spikes and down drifts to retest around the October 1998 lows,(1300'hds). The same for the DOW, (7500'hds).

My trading strategy, (I have to come up with something), would be to buy in stages down to those levels. I would sell half of those on the occasional rallies that would occur down to the expected levels. I would also prepare to buy at lower supports after the breaking of previous supports, again selling half on the automatic bounces.

Most of buying would be with QQQ and DIA and maybe some individual issues like MSFT and other highly liquid stocks.

I'm mentally preparing to deplete all my trading capital and hold those stocks for up to one year. I'm hoping the drugs and alcohol will handle the greed and fear. (ggg).
