I really never heard of that rule.
This had was at least 20 years ago but I remember the result as if it was yesterday.
I do not know what the rules were at the time.

I was even thinking at one point perhaps the guy with kings re-raised - something that was completely idiotic in the game I described (still idiotic IMO but much less so in the game you describe).

When the guy going low kept getting two more low cards I could really see the guy showing a K was sweating.
