jeff..cpq only has a 15 point upside and it is at 70 so that is
only 20%.
Compaq has always had a concurrent engineering relationship with Intel. Intel is more like an employee than a vendor.
They are probably like microsoft and have people onsite all the time.
They culture this relationship although just like any marriage they have fights and then kiss and make up.
Compaq will get all the chips when others will not.
cpq's strategy has always been the opposite of IBM and others. They think that they faster they push the technology the better it is for them . They have systems that handle it better and it causes planning problems for the others. and, obsolete parts can cause real problems
on the money side for competition. Just a push of a button and their systems tell them the planning data for the world.
