And Whitman wasn't the only one to use the market bubble for that purpose. Plenty of companies and other states did the same. Not to mention, of course, the executives who all decided that the bubble "proved" what geniuses and wonderful visionary executives they were, and rewarded themselves with hefty bonuses. Big trouble indeed.
