No, I excoriated the poster for laughing at the situation, which is not at all funny. I have been a persistent critic of these scoundrels for a couple of years. In fact, I had published all of the problems which analysts have suddenly discovered, and I published them almost two years ago. So don't put me in the position of being an apologist for these guys. The saddest part is that Mason goes off to be CEO of another company, and God only knows what kind of severance package Pfeiffer will get.

One of the big problems with corporations these days is that they are held captive by management. And management controls the PR system. Investors take it in the shorts all the time. I will point to two companies: Cendant and Oxford Health. Whatever happened to the white collar criminals who perpetrated these investor frauds?

So please don't confuse my real sympathy for investors who got hurt with my attitude towards lying managements. By the way, I have never been an investor in Compaq.
