This whole pre-existing condition thing is such a crock. The only people it really affects are those who stay uninsured until they find out they are sick.

If you join a group, often the pre-existing condition restriction is waived. If you go from one group to another, you are not affected. Even when such provisions exist in a policy, there is a temporal restriction where the pre-existing condition won't be covered for something like 6 months to a year with coverage thereafter.
