Mickey Kaus argues that the Al Qaeda attack in Spain may have already helped Bush--by elevating terrorism above jobs and health care as the major issue in the campaign.

IBD has a different jobs perspective.

That's why, when people talk about a "jobless recovery," we're dubious. The Household Survey shows 2.1 million jobs created — not 2.3 million destroyed, as the Payroll Survey suggests. Unemployment now stands at 5.6%, down from 6.3% last June.

That's also why the annual rate of GDP growth has topped 6% in the last six months, with seemingly few jobs to show for it. Yes, productivity has made it easier not to hire. But that's not the whole story.

In the coming months, we won't be surprised if the Labor Department revises its job estimates sharply upward — starting with February's dismal gain of 21,000.
