t2-does anyone not now recognize a global slump?

redherring.com

That deals with semis and the telco and photo-optic industry it is now clear suffered by massive over investment and over capacity. There seems to have been overcapacity more than just parts of the telco industry.

For some reason Mr G seems to be unconcerned about the collapse of business activity. Why? Who knows. But we all assume he is the best and the best must surely know what they have done by maintaining interest rates at a rate which has squeezed the life out of major parts of the US economy.

Whatever his reasons I wouldn't bet on him producing interim rate cuts. He could have done that any time and we must assume he has better access to the numbers than any of us.

Personally I feel he is responsible for destroying the new economies growth (no it wans't all dot.coms). If his only rememdy to whatever problems he can see is to induce a world wide slump then perhaps he ought to resign and give someone with a more positive approach a chance to try to save the economy before it is too late.

What on earth can this week bring with a massive parade of earnings disasters?

Best regards,

L
