New home construction plunges Am I the only one who sees this as good news. Throughout the housing retrenchment of the past two years, the builders have reluctantly reduced production by small amounts.......hence the growing inventory. Cutting off mortgage funding in August has caused the builders to face reality. They will finally push production down to sustainable levels and be forced to sell off some of their land inventory in order to cover costs. Meanwhile, the feds will keep cutting and eventually pent up demand will bring buyers back into the market place.......unless, of course, we go into recession and then all bets are off.
