Walter, DSP will get glutted the same way sRAM, DRAM, flash, the Proms, logic chips and gate arrays did. Remember when Jabil was a sure thing? <G> I made the comment then that the outside contractors were the last in in a binge and the first out in a fast, and Jabil has gone. There simply is no safe refuge in chips, because the large cos., the DRAM and MPC cos., can move into other areas and have done so so quickly. And they soon discover that there is no room for that many cos of that size. Of course, the smaller firms realize it first. <G>
I hate to see folks layed off because of corporate greed and near-sightedness. Back when TXN and Hitachi built that Twinkie fab, the TXN CFO had an interview in Illiterate's Business Daily telling everyone that DRAM was going to grow at 30% a year, in dollars, through 2005. I was doom and gloom at the time, and I often had that piece thrown in my face. So, though I am happy to see the goofs in mgt. with egg on their faces, I wish it wasn't at the expense of the folks who really work for a living.
