i find this story interesting. it appears obvious to me that these guys are on the cusp of bankruptcy. what's going to be interesting to see is what the EXDS clients do, do they bet that EXDS will live (organically or via purchase) or will they go bankrupt?

my bet is clients bet on bankruptcy.

that kind of fear from a client's perspective means only one thing, plan for contingency immediately, start looking at holes in your contract w/ EXDS, and see if you can exit the thing. the person(s) at the client site in charge of the relationship w/ EXDS owns the fear that sr. management will let the chief person in charge of the relationship go if there is any significant downtime, failure to revenue stream, or any failure in contingency planning (or lack thereof).

having been through this exact scenario w/ PILT some months back, me as a client, along w/ several other of my peers did exactly the same thing. the moment fear of bankruptcy was there, we started planning for contingency, and that therin drove the final onslaught of failure to PILT's business. i'm suspecting EXDS will go through a similar scenario.

i wouldn't put a penny into this one.

management had a real opportunity to make this company viable through sustained growth instead of unrealistic capacity planning (which is what they did). it's too bad, they really messed up what could have been a great thing.
