PTC provides Web-based solutions that allow manufacturers to collaborate over the Internet with their customers, suppliers and partners throughout the product lifecycle. InPart, PTC's mechanical component portal, helps design engineers accelerate their design work and increase design accuracy. PTC sees the ability to share mechanical content, including CAD geometry and associated product specifications, as an important component in its customers' efforts to collaborate closely with their suppliers during product development.
"The ability for manufacturing companies to quickly locate and utilize commercially available components greatly reduces time spent on make-versus- buy decisions and allows companies to focus critical design resources on more core design functions," said Randy Ochs, vice president of InPart content sales. He added: "This corporate agreement creates a framework for the addition of other Parker divisions to the list of InPart partners."
"The InPart solution is the next step in Parker's strategy to become Web- enabled, and thereby better serve our customers," said Claus Beneker, vice president, chief technical officer, Parker Hannifin. "Parker's product selection software, inPHorm, will integrate seamlessly with InPart's Internet- based CAD library, facilitating delivery of CAD geometry directly from the Web. PTC's Flashmodeler ASP model allows us to share 2D and 3D CAD geometry with our customers through Parker's Web site."
The addition of more Parker divisions to the list of InPart partners has the potential to add hundreds of thousands of products to the InPart data center, thereby increasing the portal's overall value to all InPart partners and their customers.
