Joe Lieberman made that same point today on Fox News Sunday, when he said McCain advocated the surge even though the Bush Adm and public were strongly opposed...John persevered in his promotion of the surge despite the fact his campaign suffered as a consequence. Lieberman then said McCain stated to him at the time "I'd rather lose an election and do what's right for America."

Joe added that Sen Obama was ready for the US to lose in Iraq in order that he would get elected. He said therein lies the core difference between both candidates. McCain places country first, while Obama considers his personal benefit to be the most important consideration.
