MB...I think Rambus sounds more like something out of Speed3....anyway I'm not saying Intel is smart, but originally they tried to make a deal with Samsung and that fell through. LG and Toshiba are the only companies that have actually produced working Rambus chips and it is critical to Intel that Rambus chips be available in mass quantity early next year AND without too big a price premium. Right now that is not really a given. Intel owns a significant % of Rambus(the company) and I think they are just tying up another loose end. LG is quietly the #2 producer of DRAM in the world right now, and I'm sure the price was right.
Incidently, Micron didn't come to the Rambus party until late, and I doubt that they got a very good deal on the royalty arrangement, which would explain their bitter opposition to Rambus.
