IDC Japan market share report cites F5 Networks Japan K.K. as the leader for the competitive Layer 4/7 server load balancing switch and appliance market, for the first half of 2001
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2001-- F5 Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:FFIV - news), the leading provider of Internet Traffic and Content Management (iTCM) products, today announced that F5 Networks Japan K.K. holds the number one(a) market share position for the Layer 4/7 server load balancing switch and appliance market, in the first half of 2001.

The Company's top ranking, just validated by IDC Japan, is a reflection of F5's superior ability to address the global market's networking needs through its award-winning iTCM solutions. F5 solutions help provide maximum uptime, content acceleration, and security of IP (Internet Protocol) based networks, providing a critical component for enterprises and service providers who need to cost-effectively scale and manage their networks.

``F5 provides global enterprises and service providers with a strong, end-to-end solution suite to manage their IP-based applications,'' according to IDC Japan. ``F5's leading developments to date position the company to continue its leadership role in the content networking market with F5 in the No. 1 spot for the first half of 2001.''

``F5's steady growth and successful market penetration in Japan is attributed to our performance-leading iTCM solutions known for their intelligence and flexibility to meet the most challenging networking demands that our customers face today,'' said Tim Goodwin, senior director, F5 Networks Japan K.K. ``F5, for example, is the only company who could help make it possible for millions of users to reliably access NTT's DoCoMo and other mobile providers' Internet services, through their mobile phones. Last year, F5 Japan held 16.2% of the market. Amongst its competitors, F5 is the only company over the last two quarters that has increased its revenue growth rate, while others have declined or remained flat.

``What wonderful news that F5 now has the No. 1 market position,'' said Keith Hayashi, manager, Network Sales Group, Computer & Network Section, Electronic Systems Dept., Tokyo Electron Ltd. ``This comes as no surprise to us. We've been successfully implementing network infrastructure solutions with F5 and can attest to their products' performance and superior functionality. F5's innovation with i-mode persistence for mobile solutions, WebLogic(tm) server load balancing, firewall load balancing, streaming media, CDNs, etc., has proven that F5 is the leader in iTCM. Our experience is that F5's products are absolutely indispensable when building mission critical sites.
