MG, Re: Just Move the Mountain

Spin the wheel? I'll take "00". Never could understand that game.

I have a lot of respect for Bill on the BK thread. To a large extent, he is responsible for getting me into TA. Otherwise, I use the thread as a contrarian indicator. The more posts, the more bullish I become.

It has always amazed me that the DJIA has performed as well as it has against the Index. One would think that the heavy weighting of industrial cyclicals would be a real drag on performance. It is probably a tribute to the other companies in the Average that it performs as well as it does.

The last 14 months have been tough on the performance of the DJIA. From 7/1/97 to 12/31/97, 14 stocks were negative for performance, and while the Average rose 3.1%, the median price performance was a mediocre 1.4%.

The DJIA has fared no better thus far in 1998. 13 of the DJIA stocks are negative for performance, and while the Average rose 7.9%, the median price performance was a dismal 2.8%. And the pundits would like to predict that it's going to get worse? Not a pleasant thought.

I've resolved the issue to my own satisfaction. When BAMBI is bullish, I'll ride the trends. However, when BAMBI is bearish, I'll grab a point when and where I can. I think it will allow to me to sleep better.
