I gather this was Infrastructure's opinion of why Cymer is falling. I might agree that the high of 50 was a bit too high, but their main point about the 5 next generation methods was, IMO, ludicrous. Semiconductor International was talking about X-ray and e-beam lithography taking over soon in 1988. EUV and or something else will probably take over around 0.1um in 2005 or so. That means that DUV will have about 7 more years of life, not 2.

Why would the device manufacturing community want to get past the DUV to get into something even more expensive and complex (things don't get easier with smaller features)? Believe me, Intel and every one else would use GE light bulbs if they could get away with it. They will be trying to extend DUV as far as possible before they go on to EUV/soft-X-ray.

I suggest that Infrastructure keep looking for a "real" reason behind CYMI's price decline.
