from Microsoft Investor:
"I don't know why it's such a big piece of news. PC sales been have deteriorating since June," said Roxanne Googin, an independent technology analyst, noting the rising popularity of PCs priced under $1,000. "There's no new upgrade cycle. People aren't upgrading, they're downgrading. There's evidence of deflation in the PC sector. This is not the type of growth market everyone thinks it is."

I think Roxanne's eyes are only half open. The upgrade cycle may not be happening at home as quickly, but my estimate is that the upgrade cycle in the workplace (US and increasingly the rest of the world) will be constant and healthy from here on out.
