Alright, your post has crossed the line and I am asking that your disgusting post be removed. You naturally now must back up your lie.
Since you were too lazy to do a simple search, let me provide you with a small compilation of posts...there are more. That is not important. You were wrong.
To: tonto who wrote (4082) 12/30/2004 4:05:09 PM From: SiouxPal of 118885 I'm not sending any money to the fund. Bush has all the tax money he needs. He spends hundreds of millions every day in Iraq, fighting an illegal war. You're not being fair IMO.
Sioux
To: SiouxPal who wrote (4113) 12/30/2004 4:19:56 PM From: tonto of 118885 That is your personal decision whether or not you want to help the victims. You have decided not to help them. Thank you for your honesty.
I believe it is important for people to help others. Do I read you right that you believe it should be left up to governments?
Thanks for your clarification.
To: SiouxPal who wrote (4114) 12/30/2004 4:21:20 PM From: tonto of 118885 No...lolol
People sure are uncomfortable about whether or not they should personally help out all these poor victims...
(This comes after the US made its second contribution)
To: Augustus Gloop who wrote (4092) 12/30/2004 10:26:21 AM From: DayTraderKidd of 118885 Not that is it anyones business but I made my second contribution last night.
I would nto classify his response to me as nasty, but more inline with the age old tactic of someone who is willing to sacrifice the truth and common sense to try and make a point.
When the government sends cash or other aid to foreign countries to help that country in the time of a natural disaster. That money comes from Ma and Pa tax payer. That isn't a point of view... it's a fact...
To: Augustus Gloop who wrote (4081) 12/30/2004 10:00:17 AM From: tonto of 118886 Right. The excuse that we as individuals have already contributed is a terrible one. $35,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 equals about 17.5 cents per person. If one is going to stand back and say I have contributed 17.5 cents...we know where they stand. It is their money and their right to do with it as they wish... To: DayTraderKidd who wrote (4089) 12/30/2004 10:20:46 AM From: Augustus Gloop of 118886 I don't believe his reply to you was nasty. It may not be your POV but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
True?
So tell me....have you made a monetary contribution outside of what the Government is doing?
To: SiouxPal who wrote (4068) 12/30/2004 9:37:26 AM From: tonto of 118886 Why are some individuals so critical of our governments plan for aid, yet they themselves have not sent in a check? This catastrophe is so horrendous that I am appalled that people are not donating their own money. It is inexcusable and shows that their complaints are cheap political pot shots.
To: tonto who wrote (4077) 12/30/2004 9:51:05 AM From: DayTraderKidd of 118886 Where do you get off saying individuals have not sent in a check yet criticize there Government??
First of all, when the gov. does get around to sending a check. Where do you think the government gets the money? I'll clue you in. They get it from the tax payer. You know who those people are? They are the ones you just said have not sent in a check. Not that you would ever know which of those individuals sent in there own check or have found other ways to aid in this catastrophe.
As far as criticizing the government!! We are arguably living through the biggest natural disaster of our times right now. It took the top guy in our government 4 days to hit the tv networks. That is a slow and irresponsible response to this disaster. And I think those people you slammed for being to critical of there government have every right to criticize there government for not sending a portion of there tax dollars to aid in this disaster....
To: DayTraderKidd who wrote (4080) 12/30/2004 9:57:21 AM From: tonto of 118886 Your excuse does not fly. We all know the source of government funds, you are not teaching any of us anything. You have admiited to not contributing to this disaster. That is your choice. I believe it is an unquestionable cause and people should not make excuses.
To: JeffA who wrote (82479) 11/17/2006 2:03:42 PM From: tonto Read Replies (2) of 109133 That is consistent with what we saw here on Si during KATRINA. The liberals were yelling loud about aid, yet when I asked them what they were contributing, they said our taxes are paying for it...and did not contribute. The same thing with the Tsunami.
When it comes to helping the needy, Brooks writes: "For too long, liberals have been claiming they are the most virtuous members of American society. Although they usually give less to charity, they have nevertheless lambasted conservatives for their callousness in the face of social injustice."
To: SiouxPal who wrote (4155) 12/31/2004 10:10:46 AM From: tonto Read Replies (1) of 118885 Sioux, ouch, that sure was a short invitation. If you do not want opinions expressed here that differ from the group, so be it. Your request shall be honored.
The point I wanted to make yesterday was that those that contribute less in taxes have preached how they want those that pay the highest taxes to pay even more. It is always easy to have others do more.
Yet it is funny how the posts recently are criticizing how the government spends our money. On one hand you have the posters here who state that our money in not being spent properly, yet, they have decided that we should spend more of our personal money through taxes so that more money is available to be spent improperly...it doesn't make sense.
So, when I ask if people have contributed personally to help those in Asia, you weree honest and said no. Daytraderkid got all pissy and stated that we all were CONTRIBUTING through our taxes (and thought he was giving us a lesson...(g))
Day was lying when he wrote that he gave twice...we run into guys like that all the time...unfortunately they are so stupid that they believe that others are fooled. Day is a loser and he always will be.
Many posters have made a persoanl decision not to contribute. As I have stated, that is their absolute right. They should not be forced to give where they do not wish. Nor should they wish that we be forced to give to causes that we do not believe in. That is why it is so important to control government spending...and not transfer their load to us. Stop the loading of poorly spent money...period.
Best of luck to you Sioux, you are a good man.
