Letter to the Editor from a hometown paper:
My Marine Corps son will be deploying to Afghanistan in late April or early May. I would like him to return safe and unharmed, of course, and to a Congress predominantly made up of a conservative majority.
But the National Republican Senatorial Committee under the leadership (or misleadership) of Texas Sen. John Cornyn seems to have its collective head stuck somewhere where the sun doesn’t shine.
Cornyn continually favors weak, milksop establishment candidates such as Mark Kirk, an anti-freedom, anti-Second Amendment candidate for the Illinois contest.
Another is Mike Castle of Delaware. Cornyn thanks these two “RINOS” are “electable,” but if we fill the Senate with the likes of them, there will be no Second Amendment left to defend.
In Florida, the committee favors “RINO” Gov. Charles Crist over staunch pro-gun conservative Marco Rubio (who, by the way, has a 12-point lead over Crist).
In Kentucky, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., handpicked Trey Grayson, who was a Clinton supporter before changing parties after 1994. Pro-Second Amendment candidate Rand Paul, running on an agenda of constitutional fidelity, leads Grayson by nearly 20 points.
In California, the committee favors Carly Fiorina while ignoring very conservative, pro-gun candidate Chuck DeVore.
Moderate Republicans also support Dan Coates of Indiana, who voted for the semiauto ban and the Brady bill and is running in a primary against two pro-gun stalwarts: former Rep. John Hostettler and state Sen. Marlin Stutzman.
All freedom-loving Americans need to e-mail, write and call Sens. Cornyn and McConnell and put the pressure on them, just as they’ve been doing to the Democrats who voted for Obama care.
Only conservatives will win this country back, and the American people need to let weak-kneed Republicans know this. |
