Lots going on that is impossible to know. This guy is a former deputy but well respected. I take it he's on the opposite side as Netanyahu. Openly criticizing him with regard to the settlements indicates there's a lot of disagreement within Israel. UN resolutions call the settlements illegal. Not much support for Israel WRT the settlements from anyone except the U.S. in the past and now that's changed. Should Israel decide to attack Iran, they would have to send those missiles across Iraq's air space, which I'd guess they wouldn't take too kindly to. Not to mention our presence there.
