Is he really that much of a supporter of abortion and gay rights? He's promised to nominate more Roberts and Alitos to the bench. That's code to the religious right as "I'll overthrow Roe v. Wade and oppose gay rights."

Well yeah, like the rest of them he seems more than willing to throw overboard the core convictions that his history suggests.

And given that a lot of liberals and moderates continue to think that he'll support gay rights and abortion rights, it lets him have it both ways.
