Can't see why Stern/Siri would want to shut them down.

This is free advertisement.

The down home radio stations have existed for a very long time. My oldest brother and a friend were genius in putting together transmitters in their teanage years.

In the local area they began to broadcast wonderful dance and classical music that was counter to the country music with banjos and guitars. Of course, the broadcasts interfered with the local station signals. And, actually superseded the distance for the local station.

All it took was a friendly call from the radio station owner to my mother to ask that "the boys" cease. Message of course relayed however they persisted sporadically.
