That's 6 years ago that I started clicking around in SI! It is nearly 7 years since first buying Globalstar shares [I bought at the low of $12 in June 1995]. I've got the 7 year itch.

Bernie Schwartz disparagingly mentioned 7 minute investors. Well Bernie, I've been burned after 7 minutes, 7 hours, 7 days, 7 weeks, 7 months and now 7 years of waiting for Globalstar to get things going by sensible marketing. I am not going to wait for 7 decades.

Life is very unpredictable, even after great effort to make things work right. In March 1996, joining SI, I would not have believed the events to come; except that I know that anything which can happen, does happen, all too often.

I suppose the physics of it is that there is an infinite number of states possible and only a negligible number of them are successful states in which humans can happily live. We automatically avoid vast numbers of possible detrimental states, simply by watching where we are walking or driving, thereby preventing juxtaposition of our face and some gravel, concrete or steel. But that still leaves an infinite array of possible failure modes.

There is no reason to suppose that the years to 2010 will be any less surprising, frightening, exciting, successful and, sadly, "Game Over" in many ways, both good and bad. Sitting here on a quiet, sunny, beautiful late summer's day, it's hard to imagine the stuff to come. Equanimity seems absurd knowing that plenty is coming. But until the nightmare turns real, life seems great and we can get on with doing creative and fun things; enjoying life.

Anyway, right now, life seems hunky dory hunkydory.nl so I'll go and enjoy some more of it. Maybe it'll be all good from now on until... well, rumour has it that I am not authorized to enjoy it for many centuries more. Hmm, I wonder if I can do something about that. Most things seem amenable to human action.
