Regarding the Cabot Market Letter. Cabot featured IOMEGA as the stock of the month in March of this year (I believe it was March). The stock at that time was trading at around $9 a share. In the following months Cabot had many positive things to say about IOMEGA and I am sure his comments helped to drive up the price of the stock. All IOMEGA stockholders benifited from his positive comments.

Cabot said he is now selling IOMEGA because the stock's momentum is weakening. In spite of recent positive annoncements from the company, including new OEM contracts, the stock price did not rebound like many of the other tech stocks. He sold with a substantial profit.

I am disturbed by his sale. On Monday I received his news letter which once again rated IOMEGA a 'buy' and pointed out the company's fine fundamentals. I bought more shares Tuesday afternoon only to find out that evening he was selling the stock. The timing seems awful unless there is some damaging news about to break. The entire tech sector is getting clobbered. IOMEGA had a fantastic run so it is not surprising to see it get hit harder than most. I am holding my shares.

In spite of my disappointment with Cabot's sale of IOMEGA I do not think it is fair for many in this thread to be blasting him. The articles in the Wall Street Journal, Barrons and other media are often filled with half-truths and can be very misleading. He picked some interesting stocks for his portfolios and backed up those picks with a great deal of analysis. Whether or not he maniuplated the market remains to be proven. The SEC investigation surrounding his news letter has been going on for over a year. Nothing new and nothing yet discovered.
