with 2 pairs of copper on the last mile to every single house and only one pair in use for ISDN telephony, ADSL could feed on the idle pair. DTAG has since long stopped offering analog services incl. 2 separate lines to private households in Germany. Want 2 separate phone or fax lines? ISDN only! Sure enough that keeps one pair ready for DTAG's "German" version of G.Lite. Eventually to become an ETSI standard, if Ron Sommer gets his way...
