Just to close the SoftRAM topic, Doctor Dobbs Journal is a very highly regarded publication whereas an academic with empty pockets is a very unreliable source. They proved categorically and with no room for error and in the face of legal threats that the product simply made no attempt to compress anything under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. They returned the money and withdrew the product for a reason. I should point out that th Windows 3.1 product did do something: it increased the size of virtual memory which you could do yourself from the control panel. This was a flat out scam which the reputation of DDJ and the careers of the authors of those articles were riding on should they have been in error. There was no retraction and no ammendment.
