Heinz, going out and staking claims is the easiest job in the world if you knew ahead of time that it was a certainty that you would be able to "load up" by immediately selling them.

It is the hardest job in the world going out and staking and thinking that maybe all the costs and efforts are for absolutely nothing.

"Map staking" which is now the norm in Quebec and BC has a lot of advantages over the traditional means of tramping the bush. One of the shortcomings IMO is to allow non prospectors/explorationists to "sit on their fat asses" and tie up land without exploring it. The trick is to set the prices high enuf to discourage someone from doing nothing and yet low enuf to encourage bona fide explorationists to be involved.

Been there, done that, froze my feet at -40 staking claims when I was 21, taken to surgical wing and luckily regained use of my feet before the doc got his saw into action.
