RW, everyone here, and presumably just about everyone in the country, is interested in the same thing you are. I'm quite certain that if people were convinced a government-centric system would improve the lives of people, everyone here would support it. I sure would.

The problem is that government has not shown itself to be able to handle these kinds of problems in the past and it just too critical to hand off to an unproven entity.

For example, Medicare hasn't been in existence 50 years yet -- not one average person's lifetime, and it has already left the country so far in debt that it can never hope to dig out. And even at that our health care system could not conceivably survive, let alone flourish, on the payments Medicare makes to providers.

The thing that is so difficult for me to understand about your position is, "Why do you trust government to do this job when it has shown itself to be utterly incompetent at this type of work?"
