I guess I'll respond to myself..............This issue is obviously
baffling alot of traders. Look at the spreads over the last few days!
I find this degree of polarization between buyers and sellers is usually a good sign. Unfortunately, in the case of RIO, low net volumes often cause abrupt reductions in share price. I'm confident though that when news begins to emerge regarding the status of their various projects, volumetric increases will bring equally quick rises in price. I e-mailed Bob Anderson at IR yesterday with a formal request to summarize current endeavours at RIO. Hopefully this will be done via a news release similar to that of last July.
