Aavid has good products and has recently branched out into some exotic technologies with the purchase of 2 CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) companies. Their problem is that neither Aavid nor the companies they have acquired have ever been successful in making any substantial profit over a sustained period. Immediately before their IPO, Aavid was having severe problems in restructuring their debt. In short, if they hadn't gone public, they would be in Chapter 11 at this point. I would be very skeptical of this stock short term.
