RG Global and Catalyx Fluid Solutions Partner to Reduce Wastewater Treatment Costs for Oil & Gas Production
Friday January 5, 7:30 am ET

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. and ANAHEIM, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RG Global Lifestyles, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: RGBL - News) has signed a technology transfer agreement with Catalyx Fluid Solutions, Inc. (CFS) for CFS to lead engineering procurement and operations for the design and construction of RG Global's waste water treatment plants that will use CFS's patented ion exchange technology to cost- effectively remove unacceptably high levels of sodium, barium, iron and other inorganic contaminants from the water associated with oil and gas production. The agreement with CFS will become effective upon the acceptance of a multi- year contract with one or more oil and gas production companies. Construction on the first wastewater treatment plant in Wyoming is expected to commence by second quarter of 2007.

CFS's patented ion exchange technology to be employed in RG Global's wastewater treatment plants is superior to current technologies for coal bed methane (CBM) and other types of oil and gas production. CBM uses copious amounts of ground water, contaminating them with excessive levels of sodium, calcium and magnesium that pose environmental threats. CFS's technology removes the contaminants that pose environmental threats, producing less than 1% of concentrated waste compared to 7-15% for competitors.

Disposal of the remaining concentrated waste is costly, so minimizing waste translates to major cost savings. CFS's technology reduces the producers' cost for treatment and waste disposal for one barrel of water to significantly less than the current industry range of $.32 to $.79 per barrel.

Additionally, CBM wastewater treated with ion exchange technology meets the EPA and state requirements, even Montana and Wyoming's extraordinarily stringent requirements, for acceptable sodium absorption ratio (SAR) levels, making water fit for discharge in nearby water bodies or for use in irrigation. Some competitors' solutions have been unable to sufficiently treat water to meet Montana and Wyoming's stringent SAR discharge standards, resulting in the shut down of hundreds of well and drilling operations in these and other areas. Offshore wells have similar wastewater treatment needs to prevent their discharge from killing surrounding sea life.

Successful pilot tests of the ion exchange technology with CBM production companies in Wyoming in 2006 proved that it is the most cost effective technology available that meets EPA and all state SAR discharge standards. RG Global is currently in discussions with multiple production companies and expects to enter into wastewater treatment service contracts with a minimum five-year term.

In a separate agreement announced recently, RG Global appointed Catalyx Fluid Solutions CEO Juzer Jangbarwala as chief technology officer for RG Global and Mr. Jangbarwala assigned a patent related to the ion exchange technology to RG Global (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070103/nyw060.html?.v=79). RG Global will file two additional patent applications for the ion exchange technology related to the CBM application.

"Catalyx Fluid Solutions greatly enhances our water treatment capabilities with proven patented technology that will enable us to rapidly transition from an R&D company to a major player in the multibillion dollar water treatment arena," said Louis L. Knickerbocker, chairman and CEO. "Juzer Jangbarwala's innovative technologies and extensive wastewater treatment expertise are a tremendous asset to RG Global and will enable us to cost-effectively resolve some of the major issues that currently plague energy production companies while protecting the environment for generations to come."

Mr. Knickerbocker noted, "Higher energy prices worldwide and instability with energy producers outside the U.S. are driving the demand to produce more home grown energy -- a trend that is likely to accelerate over the next decade and beyond. The U.S. Dept. of Energy and their counterparts in many other countries recognize that increased production must be coupled with protection of the environment, providing RG Global with ever-increasing opportunities worldwide."

Within the next two years, RG Global plans to construct six wastewater treatment plants capable of treating 150 million barrels of water annually. The Company's strategy is to build, own and operate the treatment plants and allow the producers to pay the treatment costs on a per barrel basis, avoiding large capital outlays. RG Global anticipates the plants will generate approximately $30 million in annual gross revenue by 2009 with earnings in excess of $7 million annually.

"We have identified more than 30 million gallons per day of water that requires treatment, and this is just the tip of the iceberg," Mr. Jangbarwala stated. "Our technology will enable the affordable and environmentally responsible operation of many new CBM fields, giving America more independence from foreign oil. We make clean methane production affordable while reclaiming millions of gallons of water for agriculture and aquaculture. It's a win/win situation."

The RG Global water treatment plants will contain multiple ion exchange units consisting of multiple modules, each capable of processing 10,000 barrels of water per day. Units have a low operating cost with remote monitoring and the ability to remotely adjust discharge to comply with limits 24/7. Units can be relocated easily to meet the needs of the operator.
