I agree. Also, Japan will rearm and get back North and South Korea(where some of my ancestors were kicked out after WWII) by force. We all need Apple to survive so this kind of thing doesn't happen. As such, I think AAPL is a good investment now. I believe that the good Dr is doing everything he can to get the price of AAPL down so that when it does recover, he will look like an even bigger hero. I work with both Apple and Wintel clones. I have both Win 95, Win3.1 -- the 3.1 at work, the 95 at home. My clone machines are both Pentium 133s with 16Megs -- certainly much faster than my LCII with. I also use the latest Sun--Sparcstation 20 with 128Megs of ram. I just can't used to UNIX -- its arcane command structure -- its XWINDOWS --I think it is a piece of s***! I also can't justify the almost 20X price for the performance it provides -- even the Wintel looks real good by comparison. I also can't get used to the $100K and up software modules one has to purchase from the likes of Candence(I design chips as my paid occupation FYI)-- and then have them charge 15% per year ~ as much as $15K minimum/user --- I believe it is leagallized robbery. Especially since we end up paying for the priviledge of letting them know about bugs in their software.

However, I love my Mac! I am communicating on the Internet from my house with a Powerbook140 using a Metricom wireless modem. I must admit it is slower than my machine at work running ISDN.

Somehow, it really doesn't bother me that I am using Apple dinasours -- especially I have the latest (circa early 96) Wintel machines and software. At some point -- as soon as the prices are right, I will probably purchase a Power Mac clone or one from the good Dr (Apple). And hopefully in the not too distant future I can do all of my chip designs on the Apple!
