Spectranetics Gets Conditional FDA OK To Test Laser Tech COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dow Jones)--Spectranetics Corp. (SPNC) received conditional approval from the Food and Drug Administration to begin a trial of its excimer laser angioplasty catheter, designed to treat blockages in leg arteries. In a press release Thursday, Spectranetics said that if the randomized trial, at 10 medical instituions, is successful, it plans to apply for a pre-market approval application. The treatment uses fiber optic technology to dissolve blockages. Spectranetics develops technology for interventional cardiovascular therapy.
