I talked to E*trade months ago about multiple accounts, and I was told you could have as many accounts as you want open in as many account types and names as you want. (BUT), you could (ONLY) receive promotional items in one of each account type under the same name and SS#.
In other words, getting $75 for opening an account and getting IPO's are promotional items. And, you can only receive IPO's in let's say, one individual account with the same name and SS#.
So, if this is true, there's no point in having more than one individual account with the same name and SS#.
They explicitly told me you can get promotional items in (ONE) individual account, one joint account, one custodial account, one IRA account, one investment club account, and one sole proprietorship account under the same name and SS#.
Yes, they told me IPO's are a promotional item like the $75 bonus and alike.
I don't know if my info helps at all. I just wanted to add some mud to the water.
LMAO, each E*trade rep. says something different.
