I believe Java will have great impact in the longer term, however
that does not necissarily mean greater profits for Sun. What Java
does is make it a clearly level playing field for all vendors. That
may be worth lots of money to many companies if it can unseat the MS
grip on the desktop. I believe that is Suns goal and why Oracle, IBM,
and others support it - besides the fact that it makes software
development much simpler accross all platforms.

But lets not equate Java to immediate profts. I think Java helps
ensure that companies other than MS can continue to survive,
hence ensuring *potential* for future growth and profit.
