Hi Mike, I am quite sure the open pit mines use it. The new haultrucks pack a 1000gal fuel tank. Burn from 28 to 36 gal. per hr. Some of the bigger mines run 100+ trucks and 350 pieces of support equipment. That is a lot of oil changes. One truck fleet may burn 75,000 gal a day alone. Count the mines in CU. and coal just in the southwest. I have been told some of the mines overseas run hundreds of offhiway haultrucks 24 hours a day. Lots of fuel and used oil to make fuel on site.
