I tried booting from the 98 boot disk and Compaq,s start up disk, with no luck. I also replaced FDD. You might try resetting the CMOS. There may be some cautionary notes but I do not know what they are. Most likely just resetting some bios options. You have to remove and replace a jumper or set it on different pins or? it varies per mobo. Zeuspaul
